Kanoula Beach
A hidden cove beneath the olive groves
Kanoula is the beach the locals keep to themselves — a small, sheltered cove tucked below olive groves between Kavos and Cape Asprokavos. Soft sand meets calm, glass-clear water, and even in August you'll rarely share it with more than a handful of people. There are no sunbeds, no bars, no noise — just the cicadas and the sea. Pack water and snacks, arrive by scooter or buggy down the track, and you have a private slice of the Ionian for the day.
Plan your visit
Kanoula sits just south of Kavos below Cape Asprokavos. From the village take the road towards the cape, then the signposted unpaved track through the olive groves; the last few hundred metres are on foot down a shaded path. Cars and scooters park at the top of the track; a transfer drops you at the same spot and can wait or come back for you.
A small crescent of sand and pebbles between rocks, with calm, shallow water that stays clear all day. There are no sunbeds, no bar and usually no more than a handful of people, so bring water, snacks and something for shade. The rocks on both sides are good for a swim with a mask.
Morning to early afternoon, when the cove is in full sun and the water is glassy. It empties again after five.
- Wear sandals you can walk in: the path down is easy but stony.
